Masters in public health
The institute’s primary goal to launch a public health course is to develop public health capacities within the health systems. With most of the public health training centres in India catering to fresh graduates, the instituteplans to deliver the course principally to health care providers within the government services.
Further ahead, the institute plans to train a heterogeneous team, incorporating primarily, professionals from the government sector with opportunities provided also for middle level and senior professionals from developmental and social science sector, from research institutes and non-governmental organisation [NGO] and block and district program managers across the country. The diversity of this team will provide the participants, a platform for cross disciplinary and peer learning.
Multiple public health schools in the country differ in the content of the public health courses disseminated by them. The public health course offered by the institute will emphasize on imbibing the general principles of public health and will advocate the health systems approach, besides offering modules on health economics, epidemiology and biostatistics,health policy and management, public health services and others.
