Why internship at IPH ?
The Institute of Public Health (IPH) strongly believes in providing ample opportunities to individuals for better understanding of public health.While books and reading provides a good theoretical understanding of public health, practical field experience through direct engagement with communities is imperative to building one’s expertise and proficiency in this field.
About the internship program
The internship programme lays emphasis on observing, working and understanding the ground realities through exposure to research, training and advocacy in public health in rural and urban areas.The intern will benefit from practical learning as well as sharing of experience and expertise from senior professionals and peers from different projects at the institute.
Structure of the internship program
The internship programme is a semi structured course. Based on the individual’s needs and interests, interns can choose topics of their research study.Throughout the internship period, learning process for an intern will be facilitated by faculty at the Institute and by field staff in the field.
Things to know about internship at IPH
- While all IPH faculty take great pleasure in guiding, teaching and answering queries, self learning is stressed and responsibility of learning is placed entirely on the individual.
- Apart from the research study, the interns are expected to actively participate at journal clubs, training and other academic sessions at the institute. They are also expected to assist in the ongoing processes like conferences, alumni meetings etc hosted by the organisation.
- IPH does not provide any stipend for interns but shall be responsible for all travel expenses related to the work/ research study that is undertaken.
