District Health Management

Strengthen the health system

IPH along with other four organizations with experience in various aspects of public health formed a consortium, in October 2008, with a mission to strengthen the health system. On a pilot basis it has been initiated its (project) activities in Tumkur District of Karnataka.

  1. District Health Society (DHS), Tumkur
  2. Health and Family Welfare (HFW) Department, Karnataka
  3. Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp ( Technical Partner and providing financial assistance to IPH)
  4. Karnataka Health System Development and Reforms Project (KHSDRP) (providing financial assistance to District Health Society DHS, Tumkur)

Activities:

  • Training: District Health Management capacity building training to all district programme officers and PHCs Medical Officers.
  • Problem solving visit: IPH team doing problem solving visit to all the health facilities in Tumkur District to assist the health staff in day to day management issues.
  • Ongoing action research: Various researches are on process.

    Milestone:

    • Total 61 participants, including district & block programme officer were trained on District Health Management.Medical Officers of Primary Health Centre were also trained in public health management.
    • Medical Officers of Primary Health Centre were also trained in public health management.
